A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Keysa! 21 (as of 2024) and always on the hunt for cosy nooks and stylish places! Designing my own life with a dash of creativity and a hint of craziness. I’m here to share the little joys that make life sweet :)

  • I grew up in BSD, Tangerang Selatan, Jakarta, an area less crowded and more peaceful compared to the city centre, akin to Mont Kiara in Kuala Lumpur.
  • I enjoyed exploring restaurants and cafes in Jakarta, a passion that continues in Malaysia.
  • I frequently explore PJ, KL, and Subang, with KL being a favourite for food hunting and art exhibitions.
  • There are some very obvious cultural differences I noticed personally between Malaysia and Indonesian Muslim.
  • Firstly, the differences between Bahasa Malaysia (BM) and Bahasa Indonesia (BI) are notable.
  • BM is easier to pick up due to contextual clues and familiarity with BM cartoons from my childhood. BM has more slang used by youth groups.
  • Malaysia is more open-minded regarding self-expression and freedom of speech.
  • Malaysia's legal system is more Muslim centric, whereas Indonesia, despite being conservative, is less religiously strict for Muslims.
  • In my opinion, Indonesia is catching up with Malaysia in city infrastructure but the traffic management among other areas still needs improvement

Educational Journey

  • Primary and Secondary Education
    • I attended the private school Binus Serpong for primary education and had many friends from government schools.
    • Indonesian government schools have different grading levels, with passing marks at 50% compared to 60-75% in private/international schools.
    • Private schools offer higher quality education, particularly in English proficiency.
    • Attending an international high school exposed me to Western influences and media through the Cambridge syllabus.
    • I participated in extracurricular activities focused on community causes, such as beach cleaning projects.
    • My parents chose private education to secure my chances of studying abroad.
  • Higher Education
    • At 18, I enrolled at One Academy Malaysia to study Interior Design.
    • I encountered a language barrier initially, but adjusted quickly after six months.
    • The coursework is intensive, with a focus on training over social interaction, suitable for introverted students.
    • The campus, located in an office tower, limits facilities but provides a high-standard, industry-based syllabus that prepares students for their careers.
    • I’ve learned that passion is crucial in Interior Designing, I find there is a noticeable difference in output when comparing when the output was created with genuine emotion.

Skills and Interests

  • I started gaining popularity on TikTok with aesthetic cafe reviews, connecting my passion for interior design and art.
  • Understanding audience preferences, such as video pace and shooting style, comes from being in the same age group as the predominant users.
  • How I started initially was to reach out to outlets/shops via Facebook, Instagram, but the operators now approach me due to the success of my content.
  • Success in content creation is driven by aesthetic taste, staying on top of social media trends, and associating with like-minded individuals.
  • The challenges include maintaining dedication and consistency to engage the audience daily or weekly, staying on trend and finding a specialty are crucial for relevance and understanding viewer perspectives to grow your channel.
  • My shooting style is behind the camera, often using friends as models.

Professional Experience

  • Interior Design Study
    • My education at One Academy Malaysia provided a high-standard, industry-based syllabus that prepared me for the reality of a career in interior design.
    • Passion for interior design is essential, as it translates directly into the quality of work produced.
  • Social Media Content
    • I developed a successful TikTok presence through aesthetic cafe reviews.
    • I captured content that resonated with the audience, leveraging my passion for interior design and art.
    • I have established connections with F&B owners, gaining sponsored services and additional income as a student by updating my rate card as my platform grows
    • I learned the importance of staying relevant with current social media trends and understanding viewer preferences, to make the most out of the algorithm.
    • Utilising specific audios or editing templates helps me gain more traction on my content.
    • A few of the many benefits of being a content creator, these include sponsored services, earning side income as a student, and establishing networks with F&B owners.
    • For some reasons, content business owners pay more for content creation in Malaysia compared to Indonesia.
