A Bit About Me
Hey there! I'm Becca Matthews. Let me take you through my journey and how I can help you with your goals in media, beauty, and sales marketing. Here’s a snippet of my background and expertise.
- As a child, I was always creative and curious which made me explore many hobbies such as arts and sports.
- For primary & secondary school, I went to SMK Taman Desa, where I thrived in various activities. I led debate competitions, public speaking events in both BM and English, singing competitions, and sports.
- My parents noticed my talent in singing and supported me wholeheartedly.
- I’ve always been a people person, and my communication skills were nurtured early on by the head of the English department, landing a part of the committee as one of the leading members on the debate team up to the inter school tier.
- One of the best pieces of advice I received from my friend and mother was, “Teach people in the way they know how to understand.”
- This advice has made me highly articulate and effective in communication.
- I was active in sports, playing basketball for school and participating in badminton (MSSS).
- Growing up, I played badminton with neighbourhood friends and was encouraged by a Selangor representative to try out for the team.
- As a chunky kid with insecurities, I pushed myself to do my best and grew stronger from the experience.
Educational Journey
- I graduated from APU (Asia Pacific University), where my communication skills from school proved invaluable. I completed a business & IT diploma but realised programming wasn’t for me.
- I made use of the university computer lab facilities with Adobe and taught myself through YouTube which peaked my interest in Graphic Design.
- My degree pivoted to purely business due to my parents perceiving design as an unstable career.
- I interned at 3M, which later turned into a contract job, giving me invaluable corporate experience.
Skills and Interests
- I’ve always been a chemistry enthusiast, which led to my curiosity in fragrances and eventually into the luxury world.
- Though an expensive hobby, I have a growing collection of fragrances, which are very subjective and chemically layered with top notes, heart notes, and base notes which makes up the composition of how the scent wears and projects.
- I learned that body composition also affects how a scent performs on your skin.
- My first fragrance was from Estee Lauder, gifted by my uncle, which sparked my passion.
- I’ve spent around RM10,000 - RM15,000 ringgit on my collection, including Arabian, niche, and designer fragrances.
- My interest in watches started with a Casio from my dad and progressed to G-Shock. I’m now into Japanese timepieces, fascinated by their inner workings, dimensions, and details.

- Joined 3M for an internship and continued for 2 years under contract in a corporate MNC environment.
- Responsibilities included managing stakeholder relations and ensuring standardised promotions and pricing across all channels.
- Learned the intricacies of corporate culture, including protocol and professional conduct in a global setting.

- Transitioned to freelance graphic designing to explore a passion for design and creativity.
